Slam dunk! Come and shoot some hoops at the Pink Lady® basketball art court

As part of our ongoing commitment to create feel-good moments for our Pink Lady^® fans, we have transformed the Joseph Grimaldi Park public basketball court in Islington, London into an energising work of art with the help of artist Coco Lom and community sports-meets-arts initiative, Project in the Paint. The aim of the court refurbishment is to create a public space where people from the local and surrounding communities can go to play basketball or just enjoy the playful, vibrant design while they get some fresh air.

Coco Lom drew inspiration for the design of the court from the movement of a basketball and none other than a juicy Pink Lady^® apple. The finished design features the artist’s distinctive black and white elements with patterns inspired by magnified apple cells and pollen grains in our beloved apple’s unmistakable bright hues teamed with Coco Lom’s signature blue.

Attendees of the basketball taster sessions will also be in with a chance of winning a bespoke, ultra-limited edition Pink Lady^® X Coco Lom basketball.

To further support this activity and the local community, 5,000 Pink Lady^® apples will be donated for distribution by FareShare across London including the Islington borough. This comes as part of the 100,000 apples Pink Lady^® has pledged to donate across the UK this year as part of its ongoing partnership with FareShare, the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste.
