Healthy Fruit Snacks for Lunchboxes
What makes a good fruit snack to send your kids to school with? For us, it’s simple – just pick up an apple from the fruit bowl. What’s better than the refreshing crunch of a Pink Lady®? It’s the perfect snack for any lunchbox.
In fact, to highlight how good a Pink Lady® apple is for snacking, we’ve just won the Healthy Food Guide award for the Sweet Snack category. Healthy Food Guide said: “This consistently good apple variety is the HFG go-to choice when we’re snacking on fresh fruit – it’s to do with the natural sweetness and crunch that can be relied on to the last bite.”
However, we appreciate that sometimes our children want something with a little bit more excitement and so do we! So, here are some of our favourite healthy recipes for back to school snacks that we’re sure your kids will love.
Honey-Dried Apple Crisps
Making your own fruit crisps is easy to do and incredibly tasty. These moreish apple crisps are the perfect healthy fruit snack for kids, much better for them than opening up another bag of salty crisps.
What’s more, you can make up several portions of this healthy apple snack in as little as half an hour.
Apple Flapjacks
Flapjacks are one of the best snacks for school lunches that you can get the kids involved in making with you. Super easy and fun to make, you can try all sorts of combinations from week to week.
In this recipe, we’ve added Pink Lady® apples to a classic flapjack recipe to give it a fruity sweetness that kids will love.
Apple & Sausage Filo Rolls
This one is more of a filling school lunch rather than a back to school snack, but you’ve got to shake up the same old sandwich routine from time to time too. And what better way to do so than with a proper homemade sausage roll with a good quality pork and apple filling? Your kids will be the envy of the playground.
