Each year, as part of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Awards, which for the first time, took place virtually via a spectacular livestream event, an expert panel of judges look for the most exciting, creative, inventive and beautiful images of apples. All of the stunning images are judged as part of the Pink Lady® Apple a Day category and this year the entries were more inspiring than ever!
The Apple A Day category finalists showcased some of the most innovative entries we’ve had for this award to date. The images ranged from dark and brooding Caravaggio-style imaginings to a fun play on London’s punk scene.
The image which scooped the overall prize however, was ‘Caramel Lady’ by Diana Kowalcyzk, from Poland, who showcased our delicious apples being gracefully dipped in melted caramel – capturing the ultimate moment of sweetness. Judges of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year Awards said that her shot stood out for her juxtaposed use of bright and dark colours which enhanced the subject matter.
Huge congratulations to Diana and a big thank you to all who entered the category in this year’s competition. We hope the stunning entries will give you some inspiration to try your hand at photographing our treasured apples and enter the competition next year.
